Things to do

Things to do in Cam Ranh

Short answer

Bai Dai beach itself, the coastal road south to Vinh Hy Bay and Nui Chua National Park, and the Cham towers and markets of Nha Trang. The lobster islands of Binh Ba and Binh Hung are closed to organised tourism, so plan around Binh Lap instead.

The strip is quiet by design, and the interesting parts of this coast are a short drive away in both directions. This is every place worth the trip, sorted by how far it is from the airport.

Frequently asked questions

What is Cam Ranh actually known for?

Three things: Bai Dai, a 20 km beach with resorts and almost nothing else; Cam Ranh Bay, one of Asia's finest deep-water harbours with a long military history; and the lobster islands offshore, which are currently closed to organised tourism.

Can you do a day trip to Nha Trang from Cam Ranh?

Yes. Nha Trang is about 40 km north of the airport along one road. A taxi takes under an hour, and most visitors go for the Cham towers, the market and dinner rather than the beach.

Is one day enough in Cam Ranh?

For the beach, yes. For the islands or the coast south to Vinh Hy Bay, no: each of those is a full day once you count the boat or the drive.
